This project is related to the Society’s goal of advancing health in the community by providing a community kitchen and programming that develops community awareness of healthy food options and the health benefits of seasonal eating.
The kitchen facility will provide a community facility for teaching and learning about preparing and preserving local foods.
The kitchen will act as a demonstration kitchen with guest chefs preparing appetizers, healthy snacks, full meals etc. in front of an audience. The kitchen will also be made available to community organizations to provide classes on food preparation and preservation, and food safety. Storage, fridges, sinks, and power hook-ups for large appliances are essential components of the kitchen.
